QUOTES!

Post by Judy »

if you want to tie in your comments to somebody's post then click on "Quote and their post will come up in a box. Write your comments beneath it. If you want to edit that quote to leave just one part of it you can delete as normal BUT please ensure you leave [ quote = " original poster's name " ] at the start and
at the end of their edited post. Otherwise it wont come up in a separate box when you submit it.

For multiple quotes I open a separate window, quote the post I want then copy and paste that into my reply and continue to copy and paste any further quotes from a separate window until they are all in the same post. If you see what I mean.

To split someone's quote in order to reply to each part separately start with the full quote then cut and paste the
from the end into where you wish to separate the post, add your comments, copy and paste the
at the start of the next part of their post, put
at the end and continue to write your comments.

LIke this:

I am stupid when it comes to techy computer stuff.

Ooops, sorry, I thought you meant all the time.

And if some of you think your posts have changed and the little yellow boxes arrived all on their own, nope! Some poor Mod has added the right little bits to define the quote. :brickwall:

There's ironies for you, you get the quotes wrong,in spite ofmy best efforts, and I get a totally smart poster (only 6% stupid) but can't get my iPad to copy the link so's I can prove it... :brickwall:

 No irony Judy, I just deleted a bracket to reinforce your point! I doubt I would get as low as 6% on that test but then I wouldn't be stupid enough to do it.
One of my sisters works for the police. She was issued with an iPlod. Is that something similar?

It's not the untidiness more the fact that I can't understand a bloody word of what people are saying or didn't say but quoted somebody else saying, or not. I mean, we even had Wullie sounding intelligent today! Turns out it wasn't him, luckily, I couldn't have coped with that concept.

Sorry Bill.... :49: :16:
