Re: How to check game properly for hard mouth?
With the greatest respect, I fear that you are kidding yourself & looking for excuses. There are plenty of retriever & spaniel trials based on early season birds, weak, cold & wet birds & you simply don't get that level of eliminations for hard mouth in any one trial. I accept that ...

Re: How to check game properly for hard mouth?
I was at a HPR trial earlier in the season and nearly every dog was damaging. It amazed me that the judges and the owners were all quite oblivious to it with one of the judges rubbing the bird all over checking for damage to the skin! I competed in an HPR FT season before last, early in that season...

Re: weimaraner
It may surprise you that I am of the opinion that someone else should not be doing the shooting when training a a dog ...young or otherwise! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moBXEEJcChs The dog should be working with you and you should be working with the dog,for the purpose of the gun. Nice advertis...

Re: weimaraner
I have formed an opinion that this pup is being rushed. I see the bit about the birds, (assuming crows and pigeons given the age and shooting season). One has also to think about how much exercise a 9 month old pup should have, although I concede I am very cautious in this regard. The OP speaks in t...

Re: FTW's or FTCH's?
It would seem that people have a different understanding of what the letters stand for. Given that winning any place, even a CoM at a FT earns the dog a stud book number, just as a junior warrant would in showing, then I don't have a problem with having the letters on a home made pedigree listing. J...
