Re: Fox red.
Its red fox now which is even more irritating ;). Its been "fox red " shade of yellow on the Kennel Club labrador breed standard for longer than I can remember but fairly recently it has oddly changed to "red fox" in the breed standard. I suspect it was a typo when the Kennel Clu...

Re: signs of hard mouth???
I use a rabbit fur covered disc or ball. I would guess if the pup is chewing the bumpers he will enjoy popping his teeth through the canvas dummies too. Save them for when older.

Re: signs of hard mouth???
It can sometimes be stress related. Putting too much pressure on too soon and when the pup is teething too. I'd stop retrieving for a while then restart using something soft as a retrieve article.

Re: Sticky recall
I've heard it all before Wullie and don't get offended by any of it! My dogs pick up too and being able to send my dogs on a straight line across the fens is very useful indeed as well as them being able to hunt the dykes and the cover. I will agree my dogs are usually the only ones out on the shoot...

Re: Sticky recall
Haha Sham tell me about it! I have one here that has taken forever to take a line and I finally feel like I've cracked it. She's 4. I've had some trainers say she's hard and messing me about but I think she's soft and that's the way I've trained it. We'll see if it pays off this season. That's if I ...

Re: Sticky recall
Sham how "happy clappy" are you managing to get your voice to be when your recalling her? Or is your frustration starting to show and its through gritted teeth! If she's stopped when told then you can afford to give bundles of high pitched praise for the recall. Been there done it all lol....

Re: confused about vet statement regarding elbows
It isn't any different in working labradors to any other breed. You have breeders that test and you have breeders that don't. Its your choice as a buyer which you want to buy from. I test for hips, elbows, BVA eye test, PRA, CNM, EIC, and SD2. Some breeders do more tests some do less. I will leave t...

Re: confused about vet statement regarding elbows
Personally I would want elbows too plus several other dna tests. If you are really interested in the litter though join the Kennel Clubs MyKc and you will be able to access both sire and dam of the puppies and see if they have produced any bad elbow scores or have any recent history in their pedigre...
