Hi all,
Just a word of caution. Apparently all the vets in various counties over the uk are seeing quite a number of dogs with Kennel Cough. So this illness seems rife and isn't just in one area neither.

Re: Building a dog 'toilet' area in the garden
Hi, I, too, have a 'dog run' which is to one side of the house where we took up the grass in that part and then laid some sand and on top of that we put a medium sized gravel. Every so often I use a diluted disintectant in a watering can and spray the whole area, especially during the late spring an...

Re: Cold laser therapy
Hi Mandymoo, I have a Setter who is now eleven years old and have recently had Cold Laser treatment on his 'knees'. He has been diagnosed as having a little osteo arthritis in his legs which isn't, at the moment, causing him too many problems. However, he started licking his knee, one in particular,...

Re: Training book
A really good softcovered book that is easy to understand is The Pet Gundog by Lez Graham. She has also written a follow up called The Advanced Pet Gundog and is in the throes of a third book Training Puppy Gundogs.

Re: Setter on Point
Hi baxters mum, Nice to hear from another Setter owner on this forum. I have a few friends who have Gordons - lovely dogs. Went on a very good Field Working/Training Day down South some years ago and it was a lovely friendly day over the fields. All the Setter breeds were there except English and ju...

Re: Setter on Point
Leeky - thank you for your compliment. Dagelle79 - Setters 'set' normally but can be still called 'pointing'. Before guns were invented a net was used and when the Setter (or Pointer) 'pointed/set' the coveys the men would throw the net over both the dog(s) and the birds, get the dog out of the net ...

You don't often see a picture of a Setter 'on point' so pleased to get this one of my boy a couple days ago whilst out over the fields.

Re: Gundog training in Bristol
I agree with Alyson on the Bristol & West Working Gundog Society website. Mrs Christine Carpenter takes HPR classes in the Wincanton area and is an excellent trainer. I certainly enjoyed attending her classes and it was very good and instructive. Very friendly gathering of HPR owners and their d...
