Re: wrong command

1) Have different sounding commands. 2) Try to link the verbal with some body language to guard against the dog taking any word as a cue to do what it was planning. 3) Why I say 'sit' not 'hup'...a couple of years ago I was just walking the dogs at heel through a grassy field. All of a sudden up got...

Re: Patella Luxation in Cockers

Patella luxation is increasingly common in Cockers, and also Labradors and Springers. There are grades of luxation and grades of pain and lameness. Mild cases may not require surgical treatment but may benefit from a supplement to support joint and cartilage health as there will be abnormal wear. Mo...

Re: Diatomaceous Earth?

My dogs don't have worms and I don't often use anything! Just to be a good citizen I do worm them with vet pill once a year, but no sign of worms. Re: Diatomaceous Earth?

There is very good evidence for its use externally for parasites, but be careful not to breath it in as it may be carcinogenic.
There is very poor evidence for its use internally for worms.

How can you tell?
Same way as you can tell when your wife is nearing the end of the month?
LOL! Less grumpy with the other dogs, more playful with them. And she just seems nicer to have around!

Re: Spaying (again, I'm sorry)

I had this on my computer - apparently written by a Gundog Vet... Spaying before the second season vastly reduces the risk of mammary cancer. Spaying at any age removes the risk of ovarian and uterine cancers (rare) and pyometra (up to 25% of bitches over 6 will get this) and obviously preg...

C. Art is in most of the carrier pedigrees...but he sired so many litters maybe that's a red herring! IF he WAS a carrier we've been very very very lucky not to see more cases.
