Springers and labs fairly straight forward. The cockers definitely have quirks. There’s variations within the same breeds too so all in all it’s the usual sh!t show 😂

Re: PUPPY REHOMING

A similar thing happened in a litter i recently bred. The bitch accidentally sat or jumped (unsure how it happened exactly) on a 4 week old pup (which was sold) and injured its leg. Initially it appeared to have a broken back but after being to the vets, x rays and some TLC it got back on its feet a...

Re: apprenticeships for pickers-up.

I think getting some experience in the beating line is a fair way. It is rare to be simply invited to pick up. Most shoots have long established teams or are has been said, closed shops. I myself started beating with one dog and just waited for the opportunity to arise to pickup, now i have 7 dogs a...

Re: A one man dog....or not

I don't think any dog is truly a "one man dog" although some dogs take longer to make the adjustment to a new owner (pack leader ?) than others. If a dog in a pack situation had it's pack leader killed or demoted in rank it would have to adjust to the new circumstances or be in a bit of t...

Re: Exporting to the USA

I shipped a pup from a litter i bred to the US last year. Mine flew from Heathrow into Dallas and then on to Memphis i think. There were various companies who can do it and the pricing varies a fair bit. Think the pup had to be a minimum of 12 weeks old, rabies jab wasn't compulsory before flying bu...
