Re: Walking stick
Fascinating people the Gurkhas. I've worked with them for years, a lot of respect for them  Served with them when based at 'Church Crookham' ! Two tours active also, one in Belize which I learned more about people than any book can say ;) Active tour, 'Belize'? Active if you like scuba diving...

Re: Walking stick
In 1983 I was trekking to Everest in Nepal which took me through rhoddie forests. That's where ours came from. Over there they grow to huge tree size. I had picked up a small discarded branch and was very slowly whittling it into a walking stick with a Swiss army knife. A Gurkha came along, and too...

Re: reaction to .22 blanks
My Springer pup froze with his ears pricked up whilst in the garden the first time he heard someone shoot in the field several hundred meters away. I certainly think it's in the breeding. His demener was one of something good is about to happen and at only about 12 weeks old he had never experienced...

What do you want to use it for? Hazel is fine as a thumb stick but pathetic as a beating tool! I always use either Holly or Blackthorn which will last years. Leave it to dry for a year in the shed and then you will be able to bend/straighten it using a bit of heat from the kettle. One point to note ...

Re: lawn rings
I take both of mine straight out for walks in the morning and last thing at night with no hanging around for peeing to avoid this happening. The first pee of the day is going to be the longest so don't allow it to be done in your garden. I have a garden the size of a postage stamp with two dogs but ...

Re: Dog transport safety
I'm sure that we have all seen the adverts for wearing seat belts in the back seats of cars where the child in the back goes head to head with the driver as the car comes to a sudden stop. Why is it then that so many people are quite happy to allow their dogs to roam free in their car. Do they think...

Yes - surely it doesn't matter how posh your box is, unless its fixed (bolted down), it will travel in a crash. Cheers, Terry Have a look at a dog box in a car next time you get the chance Terry. I can assure you that they will not go anywhere in an accident provided the rear seats are in the norma...

Re: Hello from Wiltshire
Welcome to the forum. Nothing wrong with either of those trainers, from what I hear anyway. I have used Nick G several times myself as he has a very good rabbit pen but that's for future training. Nothing wrong with having a few lessons with one and then a few from the other from what I can see. The...

I love your straight talking Robert. No pulling the wool over your eyes that's for sure despite your Officer customer telling you porkie pies a plenty!
