Re: Dropping a dead for a runner

The pair of us thought she couldn't have been that frightened by him if she walked up to him when she could have just kept going and been long gone!!!! He is the nicest most reasonable bloke you could hope to meet but even he was lost for words! Many years ago before I knew the ways of the country ...

Why don't you phone Skinners and ask their advice, they are very helpful.

Re: Dropping a dead for a runner

I was lucky enough to take my dogs rough shooting with two chaps who had guns. I helped feed the birds and we had a large farm to shoot over, not wild bird shooting but we had to work to find them.

My big Black Lab has never shown any signs of being interested in the female (or the male!) of the species until he met a ruddy Flatcoat in season and he is seven years old this month!

Strangely the Munster bitch I knew did not often have a bleeding tail, but her face and head were often scratched and torn and bleeding. She never gave up!

Re: Munster thing

I knew a Large Munsterlander who would enter any cover, however thick and was permanently bleeding, she was an amazing hunter.

Re: possibility of working her

In my 'humble Ips, that is the worst thing you can do, to let her run in to a disobedient Lab so that she can get the reward of the retrieve. Steadiness is steadiness.

Re: Ghillie's Report Card

So sorry to read you haven't been out of the house for weeks, that must be very frustrating for you.

Great though to hear what a good life Libby is having and that your training still stands :)

Re: Hello From Fife

Welcome. I see you have a very good looking HV. I used to have GSPs and think HPRs are excellent dogs to have.
