Pheasant gone off badly!
I bought my first pheasant back to home on Saturday and put it in the garden shed. Now, on Wednesday night, I have just cleaned up a foul mess with lots of maggots. What did I do wrong? I have left pheasants before for the same amount of time without this happening. Is this a shed thing? Or, at this...

Re: What to do - Question on Spaniel not stopping out shooti
Hiya! thanks for the reply. When you're out training have you tried throwing a dummy, sending him for it, stopping him then sending him for another? Either a seen or thrown straight after he stops on the whistle? Yes - done this many times with no issues. tbh, from the way you've described situation...

What to do - Question on Spaniel not stopping out shooting
I was picking up on Saturday and had two moments that I was less than pleased with. One was ambitious to start with - sending my dog for a seen retrieve half a hefty field away. He went straight to where the grass strip where the bird went (wow) but didn't go into the bramble behind. I blew the stop...

Re: Wonder of Dogs 8pm BBC
the guy probably does have a cockerpoo, those DNA tests are not very accurate and what bull the bloke was saying about them as well..it has a white flash on its chest so that shows it's a springer....errrr plenty of cockers have white flashes on their chests and let's face it, cockers and springers...

Re: Wellies or walking boots and gaiters?
Boots and gaiters for me. Good walking boots are the best things since sliced bread - there is a type for every foot, so worth trying a number until you get the right ones. Personally, I have Meindls, I am also thinking of the new hunter leather walking boots. Two things: 1) beating through brambles...

Re: James Douglas training video
Sounds like he doesn't get a great vote of confidence. Shame.
I still liked the video and learnt something from it.
Back to the more general question about springers - what are the most noticeable differences between springers of 20 years ago and those of today?

James Douglas training video
I have just watched a James Douglas spaniel training video. It is one of my favourite videos, in part because it is much shorter and more compact than most of my others, also because there are a number of really good tips that he illustrates very well. Thinking of the hand signals, for example. A co...

Re: Springer's hunting instinct
Thank you for taking the time to read my previous posts and answer. I think you are right, but I am so disappointed, and I suppose I am looking for that magical answer! We can't have a puppy at the moment, due to other commitments, so I guess we are stuck with a pet, and probably beating without a ...
