Re: Cockadors?
If both parents are working dogs and have proved themselves then I dont see what uncertainty there could be just because it's a crossbreed? There could be uncertainty in a pedigree litter. Your certainly correct but with a cross bred litter you could have individuals that exhibit the best features ...

Re: Any crossbred owners out there?
I have a GWP x SRHP but although we train, I dont work him, he's predominantly a pet so his skills have never fully been utilised. I've never really nurtured his hunting skills and although they are there, i've no doubt surpressed them so his hunting isnt as hot as it could be. Once he gets a whiff ...

Re: Ozka attacked by Collie
Although I have 2 border collies myself, they are still a breed I keep a close eye on if we come across them. Thankfully neither of mine have the nipping tendency or round things up but lots do and unfortunately many owners use these breed traits to excuse their dogs bad behaviour, seeing it as some...

Re: Do your dogs wear collars?
Yep, mine wear collars when out in public, they do not wear them at home. It annoys me actually when I see people walking their dogs and they have no collar or tag on. In fact. i've been looking at photos of my friend walking his Lab in the Peak District, miles away from home and with the dog no dou...

Re: Heidi my Hungarian viszla x German wirehaired pup
Lovely pup, is she fairly smooth coated? My GWPx was quite smooth coated as a pup but had some facial furnishings. In fact, he had more as a pup than he does now!

Re: How did you decide this was for you?
I have always grown up with dogs and was pretty dog mad as a kid. My only experience with dogs was with collie types which is what i'd grown up with. When I eventually left home and moved in with my ex partner we decided to get a dog. Since it was approaching his birthday we decided he'd choose and ...

Re: Anxiety on Delivery

I tried what Wendy suggested last night with a cuddly toy. He picked it up, sat down without me asking and held it very nicely ...

Re: Anxiety on Delivery
Take me through the process that you used for backchaining Wozzy.... Wendy Since he has no issue with taking an item from me, we started with me sitting down and leaning back against the chair, dog sat between my legs. I then asked him to hold the item and using a clicker, rewarded him only when he...
