Re: Silver Labrador Pups....... Fair Price!!!

In Canada Silver labs are not purebred and if registered under an allowed color will be deregistered when it fails a DNA test looking to see that the dog is free of the dilution gene. This is a complaints driven test.

Silvers can still be sold as designer dogs for obscene prices.

Re: to spey or not to spey

It is probably best to spay after the first heat as the first heat tends to clear out any remnants of puppy vaginitis. There is also discussion around waiting until the growth plates are closed so that full height is obtained. In males, this means keeping them from getting loose and having a night o...

Re: to spey or not to spey

Believe it or not, the estrogen in the female dogs heat cycle is damaging to the uterus. Cysts get formed which leads to pyrometra. When the dog gets sick, it becomes life threatening. When the dog is sick and operated on, it becomes far more difficult to recover because the dog is full of infection...

Re: KENNEL COUGH (BORDETELLA)

Adult dogs receive annual booster jabs.

It should be noted that handlers of sniffer dogs will give their dog two weeks off duty after the jab due to loss of acuity of smell for about two weeks. So give the booster in the spring as opposed to just before a field trial.

KENNEL COUGH (BORDETELLA)

Just became aware of a new procedure with my 4 month old lab pup. First Kennel Cough vaccination is nasal. If pup is at high risk (puppy classes, kennels, field trial) a booster injection for kennel cough is given one month later. Thereafter, a yearly booster injection. Not sure if this is new or I ...

It might be helpful if your antibiotic cream also has some cortisone in it to counter the inflammation and itch.
