Re: teenage springer
Naj , Greatly appreciate the time you took to post this long reply! I cannot say other than that it inspired me to try and try until we'll make it, and not give up. I understand from everyone that its never a easy way to success, but as a first timer it is difficult when you dont know what to do and...

Re: teenage springer
You are probably right, I have to go back at the basics. But a good idea the training lead - I will try it today!
She is 9 months, we just moved to a very rural area and opposed to city life it is a lot more scent here which made her forget about everything

Re: teenage springer
Do you not do any hunting/quartering training with this dog? Or do you just want her as a no-slip retriever? You seem to have trained her to go off self-hunting after you've done your little bit of mandatory training. Naj hmm.. I will try to explain what my plan is. I want her to hunt the g...

teenage springer
Hello I knew this day would come, when your teenage springer has suddenly become very independent. here is the usual scenario: we go out and train a couple of retrieves and walk to heel. She finishes this great, I want to keep it short and fun. then I let her off to hunt some ground, and depending o...

Re: leather slip lead (specially made)
Just a quick update for anyone interested
I bought the round 8mm lead from Turner Richards, and is so happy with it! it seems like very good quality and was affordable too.

Re: leather slip lead (specially made)
Make sure its thick enough, 8mm as a minimum for a round slip lead. Had you considered a flat collar and clip lead while the dog is still pulling? Much easier to find a comfortable lead and a collar is better for the dog too. A slip lead is great when you are working the dog but not really necessar...

Re: leather slip lead (specially made)
The one you posted Bogtrotter looks a lot like that from Turner Richards, could it be the same? Doesnt say anything length-wise though..

Re: leather slip lead (specially made)
Please people, stick to the topic! I have already explained what happened, so no need to become hysterical about it. As for what needs attention I can assure you it is the leash that caused my blisters.. it is absolutely horrible; I trained with her for 10 minutes and got them! It might be a combina...
