Re: What bones can a puppy have

I'm ashamed to admit I cut the meat and fat off the bones before giving them to the dogs. I do then boil the meat up and put a bit in with their kibble, that way they don't get too big a dose of fat at a time.

Re: What bones can a puppy have

I like lamb ribs for the Cockers, the bigger dogs got whatever bones were going.

Re: Slip leads

'All things rope' leads are great but expensive, I quite fancy a thin leather slip (I think Turner Richards if I remember rightly) but I'd be paranoid about losing it.

Re: Off days

That would be telling! They'd spent 2.25 hours in the car travelling (or attempting to travel) the 35 miles to the shoot, got out straight onto leads, walked to drive, both a bit fidgety, understandably. End of drive let them go, off like greased lightning, together, in a different direction to wher...

Re: The Working Cocker by Peter Jones

I had another look at Peter Jones's book and remembered why I'd kept it - its got loads of photos of my dogs' ancestors in it, otherwise it might have been moved on as it wasn't terribly impressive, just another dog book.

Re: Off days

U don't need to train every single day. Most people have a life outside of dog ownership. I work 13 hour shifts, there's plenty of days I can't train. It's good for both dog and trainer to have time off. Just being a dog is an important part of life for them as well.   Never unde...

Re: Switching food but not brand

I have no problem with Skinners Duck and Rice, Pup is on the kid's version, looks amazing and is full of energy. Loads of people wont look at Vitalin but I've fed their Lamb and Rice for 26 years and its suited all the adults without exception. When on offer its the cheapest of the "Lamb and Rice" d...

I would rather feed saw dust swept off the floor than feed skinners, about the same quality.
Have you been to the mill and seen what goes into it? Just wondering how you came to that opinion.

Re: Switching food but not brand

Phase the new one in over three or four days, they are completely different foods even though both made by Skinners.
