Re: Add a cocker???

Thanks Cockercanuck - great and informative reply. You've really got me thinking now! My girls are fast and rangy unless I'm really on them with lots of attention to work a specific area. On the other hand Meg my fox red three year old lives to pick a 100 yd runner and not much gets away from us dur...

Re: Add a cocker???

Appreciate all your inputs! This is obviously a big decision - I reckon I'll seek as much guidance as I can. My girls are all a bit mad so I'm sort of half way to a crazy cocker anyway!

Re: Maintaining weight during the season

Agree Naj. Mine are lovely trim girls. However their weight drops by about 2-3 kg over the season and I'd prefer to feed them to perform rather than them slowly eating themselves!

Re: Maintaining weight during the season

Thanks Judy. I like the idea of more fatty meat - that makes sense. They are in great shape, healthy and happy - but just a little bit lean. We worm regularly with Milbemax. I was looking at Skinners Superior online earlier and think I might switch to that during the season. The hell withe the expen...

Add a cocker???

I pick up with three young female labs on a big estate, a big partrdge manor and a smallish farm shoot - geberally around 3-4 days a week. It's a mix of picking runners during drives, hoovering after the whistle, working hedges and woods for pricked birds etc etc. I want to add a fourth team member ...

Maintaining weight during the season

I have three young labs (all spayed bitches). We pick up two to three days a week. They are on Skinners Crunchy (24% protein) twice a day and I increase their "resting" rations by 50% more than the makers recommended amount. I also add 100g of cooked chicken to their evening meal after a w...
