She happily trails her long line around, .
Out of interest, why is she wearing a long line?

Re: hard mouth

Personally, I do very little cold game training.
I tend to introduce cold game for a session or 2 in their first year. If no issues just go back to training on dummies.
There seems little point in complicating things.

, her excuse was that a hare off the dogs nose made it run in and that every dog would have done the same
No-one's dog would have/ could have run in if it was on a lead as instructed :-D

Re: What do you get paid to work your dogs?

Btween £40 on some smaller shoots and £50 after tax (PAYE) on a large commercial one.
It's nice to say that we don't do it for the money, but we keep a lot of dogs to be able to work and compete and they cost a lot to run :-)

I beat with the spaniels. I have taken the trailling lab beating just to walk to heel, but you need a...

Re: Arthritis in both shoulders.

I am really sorry for you. It's difficult not knowing what's wrong with them. As tough as it sounds though, if there is any suspicion of bone cancer, then you really want this investigating as soon as possible, if not sooner.

Re: Advice! Sproodle

I have nothing against cross breeds, but would agree with Wullie, that the poodle today has not been bred to work so may not be ideal.
You'd also need to bear in mind the coat. If your wife is wanting the cute look, the coat may well get horribley caught up in branbles etc when you want to work it.
