I have never seen one before and know nothing about the breed but it is a handsome dog. I hope you are not offended if I say it is "hound like" I am a hound lover so this is a positive thing for me. I am interested in how its disposition, temperament and trainability are?

She is hound like in appearance so no offence taken at all. She reminds me of a cross between a blood hound and a pointer. She is an extremely good natured dog with people and other dogs, one key thing I’ve noticed is how immature she is in comparison to my spaniels when thy were the same age. She is also extremely soft and has a very short attention span. None of which matters as there is no rush for her to be anything yet. I’m letting her be a puppy. She is very playful with all our dogs and has only very recently (last couple of weeks) now started to ignore them when out and started To range out 100 plus yards. She can cover ground deceptively quickly as she looks like she is in slow motion however the spaniel going like the clappers beside (usually behind) her gives away the speed. She seems to me more athletic than some of the braccos I’ve seen around (probably due to show folk!!!!).

All in all im taking it nice and slow with he with lots of praise and very little training at this point as even a raised voice can make her lose confidence. She recalls to voice and sits to voice within about 5 yards and that’s as far as we’ve got. She will retrieve anything and I mean anything so I’m happy with that. I’m confident she will develop into a very good dog.

Good luck with her Mike, she sounds like fun. She sounds a lot like my young Chesapeake Bay Retriever who I also consider somewhat "houndlike". He has a ton of desire to hunt but is a bit soft and shy in strange situations. I would also say he has a short attention span but that is tempered with an honest desire to please.

I am also confident you have a good dog in the works. I will follow her progress with interest.

I'm looking forward to meeting Luna , she sounds very like the other Bracco's I have met.....soft, gentle and very good natured. I have never seen one retrieving though, only hunting, I don't really know how normal it is for this breed to enjoy retrieving ?
It was the breeds good nature and their hunting "style" that made me change my mind about this breed. I didn't really like the "heavy hound" look but closer contact with about 20 of this breed (at Spring Pointing Tests) made me change my mind.... I am now a fan of the breed !

You really should see a good example of the breed out hunting on the grouse moors. They cover a lot of ground with that deceptively slow looking , easy striding gait they have.......very stylish ! If I was 20 years younger I'd get one .....but I'm not !
