Pretty much it! I have seen lots of sprockers, and they all vary greatly in what they look like, one is massive compared to my springers.

Most of the sprockers I know have come from accidential matings and have been found good homes and not sold for money. I rescued a 12 week old sprocker and she is adorable, VERY willful and cheeky

like all muts, could be great if you get all the good bits from each breed but then can be a pile of rubbish if you get to much of the bad things from each. Thats the problem you simply dont know what traits you're going to end up with, but then its not to different from buying a badly bred pedigree spaniel either.
If it was easy it wouldn't be so much fun.

if people are willing to pay there are always people who are willing to breed, I have found around here there are a few who have bred that way on purpose but are lucky to get £200 for them top whack recently a young keeper I know bred some but couldnt sell them for love nor money and they had many ftch on both the dam and the sire side in the end they went for about £100 which in my opinion is great value for money for a great little working dog .

oh .....yes I have a sprocker and I am over the moon with him :ugeek:

Our sprockers a fine lad and great for what we want, he looks like more like a springer than a cocker and cost a third of a pure bred.

There is no doubt that many make excellent working dogs. The problem comes when people are so pleased with what they have achieved that they want to enter a test or trial - and then find that they cannot as the dog is unregistered.
Inside every springer, no matter how well trained, is an idiot trying to get out

If I never wanted to breed or to trial and just wanted a gundog that could do the job I wouldn't hesitate to take a sensibly priced sprocker pup that had good working stock on both sides of it's pedigree.
