I'm having a bit of a dilemma at the moment and could do with some advice.
We are considering looking for another gundog at the moment anyway but are unsure what breed of dog to get and what sex of dog would be best.
Well, over the weekend the lady that we bought Fraser off contacted me to say that she had a litter in the summer with one of Frasers sisters that she kept, she went to a good stud dog but unsure which one. I know it must be a good one because her mother in law is President of the Chiltern Gundog Society and chooses the stud herself. Anyway, she had 2 pups in July and the boy went to somebody that had one of Frasers brothers from his litter. I have just had an email off the lady to say that the people no longer want the dog as she doesn't want 2 dogs after all. He is now 4 months old and absolutely stunning and they will take £200 for him just to get rid of him. My question is..would he now be too old to start the bonding with to get him to focus on me or is he over this stage and will have a mind of his own. I have Fraser and a male black lab who are really good dogs with other dogs but would taking another dog in be too much. I am so tempted.

Re: Dilemma
only you know what time you have to benifit a new pup, but at 4 months its no-where near to late to bond/teach the dog!
(id say just about the perfect age)

Re: Dilemma
If the lady can't remember the stud dog, surely she can look it up on the KC Reg papers - or hasn't she got those either? Personally, I'd get the i's dotted and the t's crossed on this one - an unregistered dog is no use if you want to do Working Tests or Trialling.
Best of luck!

Re: Dilemma
Oh I mustn't have explained properly sorry, she does have all of the papers, the 5 generation papers and they have lots of red in them, I just haven't asked her about them yet. I think I am on the verge of saying yes as I have the time to do the training but I think I'm hoping somebody might talk me out of it!!! I don't know whether the link works but this is a picture of him - http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid= ... =1&theater
Re: Dilemma
No, I wouldn't try to talk you out of that sweetie.
Glad everything is OK re KC papers - I've just been in touch with so many people recently who have had issues with Registration!

Re: Dilemma
I’d want to see the dog before I jumped in with both feet and see what he was like around my dogs first if there were no issues then I wouldn’t dream of talking you out of it Vikki.
And dammit I agree with TJ..........

Oh little Ferris. I probably should try to talk you out of it but... perfect age to start doing a wee bit of training.. Main question is, how old is Fraser?
