Nuffin to do with dogs but this story is about a fishing nutcase friend of mine called " Wee Rab."

There is a slab of rocks at Cellardyke in Fife that is only accessible at low tide and which is very hard to get onto even then. I've only fished it in daylight and even then it puts the sh*tters up me ! My mate went onto it all alone on a winters night to fish for codling. He had a headlamp and that was about it in terms of safety gear. The sea was roaring in with big sheets of spray roaring across the rock. Somebody saw his lamp from the shore and called out the lifeboat from nearby Anstruther harbour.

The lifeboat lads got just in front of the rock to help in Wee Rab's rescue. Rab roared out at them , " FECK OFF !! I'M TRYIN' TAE FECKIN FISH !!!" The police were waiting for him when he came back to dry land to give him a ballocking but Wee Rab was unrepentant and told them to feck off as well coz he'd been catching fish until he'd been rudely interrupted ! The guys a nut !
I'm told the polis incarcerated him for a while in the polis cells until he was ready to apologise.

The Fifers are as mad as tuppeny watches , even the ones that dinnae huv spaniels ! I should know..... my dad was a Fifer .  Does that make me an honorary one ?

So how legal was Hope when she retrieved two salmon to hand last week on the Tweed???? These were fresh ones I hasten to add - the manky one she picked up she dropped and pee'd on before Ferdi decided he should roll on it!!!!

Luckily no one saw her breakfast forays :-D :-D :-D .

This incident does throw up how important it is to know the law and that it is preferable to get permission from the landowner when training your dog.

Hi

I think it is a bit of a rediculous law if it is one!!
Rabbits are vermin to some people and have to be managed sometimes
I have a springer pup who i am training to chase rabbits. if the rabbits well enough it wont get caught!
So far my dog has caught 2 rabbits in a week (both with minxi?) so put the little darlings out there misery to say the least!
Im glad your pups well trained as as soon as my dog sees a rabbit he tanks off with me till hes caught/lost it!!

Please don't judge us all by those muppets' standards!!! Im also a member of said constabulary (though the right side of the border!!) The problem seems to be that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!!! - Not sure about Scotland but down here you get little (in other words no) training on the Wildlife Act....and this is the result!!! (Though you would have thought that common sense should have told them that said Act was designed to stop those hare coursing....not training a Lab pup!!!)

You could take a copy of the Wildlife Act (shrunk to A5 size) with you next time so you can give them a copy to assist in their professional development!!!

Mate stuff like this happens all over the UK, I feel the issue is recruiting numpties and promoting the most gulible and plyable among them. I was once pulled and questioned for over 1/2 hr on suspision of poaching with lamps, reason being i had mud on my 4x4. No dogs or guns evident in boot and get this - it was still light!

Apparently theres a big problem in Cheshire with persons driving 4x4's with mud on them, missing the low profile tires and body kit and without the bleach blond over made up wag in the passenger side and it takes more than photo id from two middle aged blokes to release you within an exeptable time period
