Butchers Tripe - Tinned Variety

Post by MightyOak »

Hi All
Ive been asked by a friend who wants to feed their Lab, Butchers Tripe , the tinned type.
http://www.butcherspetcare.co.uk/butche ... ix400.html

I feed kibble , and couldn't comment on it , so i thought i'd ask on here for opinions from those that feed their Dogs it. Hopefully there will be a few ?
Do you feed a Mixer Buscuit with it ?
I noticed there isn't any breakdown for the Ingredients on the website ?

Thanks for any help

** Can I ask those that feed Raw , not to ' go off on one ' and start to lecture on feeding Raw Tripe etc. They arn't interested in this type / route of feeding ;)

I have fed this in the past, mixed with biscuit. The dogs loved it and it was easy to take if we were away...............only thing that made me change was the smell.....................not from the food but from the dog's backsides about a hour after they had eaten it
It is great for pups as you can mash it down and it gives them their first taste of meat. I never fed the beef variety though.

I've used this on the odd occassion and my 2 loved it, no issues at all. Not sure how it compares cost/feeding amount wise to something like 'naturalinstinct' or natures diet, might be worth a look.

I've fed it to my Pointer when we were experimenting with his food, trying to find something that didn't upset his allergies. It was great, went down a treat and produced nice small firm poos. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to it if for any reason his present food became unavailable.

I fed it, with mixer biscuit, 50/50 to the first couple of dogs I had, they loved it. I sometimes feed it mixed in with kibble (shock horror!) these days, but not in any great amount, around 5% of their meal. If I get back down to two dogs at some point in the future I'll feed it again, at the moment its too expensive to feed four.

Thanks very much for all the Comments, much appreciated. :)
I'll pass them on .

Its does look quite good quality for tinned food.

Hi Mike,
They had actually considered these 2 brands too. As you commented its going to be cost/feeding amount wise to be considered. I think another brand was Forthglade.

I feed it as part of a mixed diet along with CSJ Natural Champ as kibble and anything raw that I can get. Never any hesitation about eating it and the cat scoffs it down too.
