DNA Test Results

Post by Breezybrook »

Just had Percy's DNA test result, Clear for prcd - PRA. Also Harry's result for FN also Clear (he is already is clear for prcd) :-D
It is a good result as Percy has lots of old fashioned Nancarrow in his pedigree and several people want to get this line back into theirs.
I submitted the samples last Sunday at Crufts, and received the results today (Saturday) I can't believe it took less than a week!
This was with Laboklin, if I had used Optigen it would take weeks.

with DNA tests, Im guessing you only have do do it once in the dogs life? Also how much did it costs you?
Too many Springers, and Roxie the black cocker.

Yes, you are correct, the test is just done once.
I dont know how much Optigen charge, but Laboklin charge :
prcd-PRA (cocker) £89.95
cord 1 -PRA (springer) £55.00
FN (cocker) £72.50
FN (springer) £55.00
Fucosidosis (springer) £65.00
PFK Deficiency (springer) £55.00

Idexx £40 each!(Plus a fee at our clinic to draw blood, package etc of about £25 so if your breed has multiple tests you can still make big savings)
