Yes I agree, a most enjoyable way to spend a morning tho its a pity the snipe never played ball. Now that you've mentioned it tho, if you have to stop for a pee break when your having a blether your probably blethering too long.

I must take issue with your comment about the pre emptive strike (or 3 :o ) on the retrieve - she was just trying to show Rosie what water is all about.

I think it done her a world of good to have to walk to heel whilst Rosie was working - especially on what she regards as her patch

thanks once again for your time and the tips and advice - always appreciated.
Hopefully the rabbits will play ball next week ;)

Today started off badly. My daughter turned up to drop off my grandson for the day. I greeted him in my usual fashion..... " Hiya pal ! Howzitt hangin' ?" I was ticked off by daughter and Soup Dragon . This is apparently not politically correct or sumfin. :(

Decided to take the dogs out just to get out of the "heat" for a while. The rain came on fairly heavily so I scrubbed that idea and went to the library ...... which was shut ! It's Easter Egg holiday. Went for a drive instead to fix in my head the route I took yesterday to where I hunted Rosie for the snipe. I got lost and had a much longer drive than I'd expected. :(

Then I saw a likely looking place to train dogs and got out of the car to take a better look. There was some very snipey looking land with a dumbell shaped pond at one end of it. I went for an even better look but got very wet tootsies and trouser bottoms while doing this. As I'd been originally going to the library I was only wearing slip on shoes , they don't work very well in a snipe bog.

I got back in the car to retrace my journey to somewhere - anywhere I knew . Got lost again. Got back out of the car to climb a sodden and slippery grassy bank in order to look for civilization. Just over the top of the bank was yet another pond and yet another quite good looking bit of snipey hunting ground. Ducks rose off the pond and lapwings rose out of the rashes. It looked good ....if I could ever find the place again. I was still thinking about how promising it looked as I started off back down the bank. My slip on shoes showed why they are called that coz I promptly slipped on the grassy, muddy slope and did the rest of the downward journey on my backside.

After driving off again I began to feel I'd seen some of this countryside before ..... I had, 25 years and more ago I used to hunt my first Brittany there and shoot over her too. As I drove on I began to say to myself.... " That wood is where I shot the woodcock and that wood is where I had a left and right on pheasants. Those fields are where I once shot partridge." It was a trip down memory lane. :-D

I will be taking Rosie to a couple of the places I found today ..... if I can find them again.
Think I'll call this area "The Dumbell Pond"

I've sort of hidden the shoes I wore. They are sodden and covered in mud and grass. I'll let The Soup Dragon find them and then tell her I hadn't seen them since her precious grandson wore them to play in out in the woods behind my house. That's wot grandad's are for.

Yep, it's Spaghetti Junction magnified by 100 or so times ! I get lost in Livingston at least once every week.
