Post by Martinp »

chyknell gold star vs tudor brior moonwarrior which is the hardest hunter and which is the best all round dog, thanks to any knowledgeable people who can help me out with any answers , if any one knows any faults you can pm me in confidence thanks again

looking to use 1 on a bitch i have here! breeding to keep a couple of pups for myself , not bothered on litter size or colours but wife does fancy a lemon/gold/orange/red. :brickwall:

i have seen above colour from goldstar but not to much knowledge of moonwarriror pups this will NOT be a desciding factor but im interested,

gone for the above out of a shortlist of 5.

thanks again.

Ive a red pup out of Moonwarrior and it is certainly a live wire 8-)

They both hunt that hard that not many other handlers could hold onto them in a trial!

Goldstar is alot older so if you dont use him you may not get another chance.moonwarrior will be around for years to come

Have you undertaken a trial COI with both prospective sires ?
How is your own bitch bred , is she closely related to either dog or are both dogs a complete outcross to your bitch's lineage ?
Both of the above should be major considerations in arriving at your decision.

hi thanks for the replies

tudorbriar moonwarrior gives 15.6% coi
chyknell goldstar gives a coi of 14.4%

I dont think there is enough in it to make a decision slely on thagt ?? what you think?

my bitch is heavy maesydderwn line along with wernffrwd she is out of maesydderwen stilleto , she is by cheweky bovril.
stilleto is out of priorsmeadow dancer and by wetlands abe.
bovril out of dernvalley jade and by larford cateran.

mainly the same 4 dogs are giving a high coi im sure if those 4 had any health problem the world and there mother would no it.
im struggling to make a final desision, the bitch has really come on hunting and is hitting cover more now one thing i dont want to lose is her calmness in the house when shes in with me , but if i can just get that bit xtra drive while hunting ill be made up like i said above these pups are for myself id be well happy for her to throw 2 at a push 3, after that they are surplas to me. just had her blood done shes at 1.9ng and as yet havnt seen a drop of blood. so i haqve probly 3/4 days to make a final cal!! cheers again guys

hi , yes i have been doing coi for weeks now the other 3 of my top 5 studs where between 19.5 and 21%.

both studs have druid as there sire so the only difference between the 2 prospective studs are the dams linage one is timsgarry lines (moonwarrior) the other is wernffrwd mainly.

i dont believe she is too closely tied to either dog, the 1 st common ancestor being in the gg parents for goldstar and ggg parents for moonwarrior...

i think im leaning towards goldstar like stated above maybe i wont have the chance again but i just cant seem to stop being drawn to moonwarriror

descisions descisions :brickwall: :brickwall:

As Jim said, this may be your last chance to use Goldstar as he's knocking on a bit now. Moonwarrior is young and all his progeny will still be pups now, whereas with Goldstar you can easily see what he's produced (not to say Moonwarrior won't turn out a good producer, as I'm sure he will)
cheers,
Alice.
