Crackerd is right, great drill, but for a young dog he will learn better if you put it in a familiar repetitive sequence . Always put the dummy back to where the dog just got it from every time. (Later on you can throw it back)On a clock face start out , cast to 3'oclock then cast to 2'oclock,then cast back to 3'oclock. Next round ,cast to 2'oclock,then 1'oclock,back to 2'oclock. Then 12,1,12. If you get the wrong cast just a "no" and call the dog back.Crackerd's dogs are well versed I am sure, that's why he has got to trick them to keep them guessing! If you want to get real fancy,on a older dog,try doing this by casting inward as well as outward using the whole clock face. Dog in the middle of the circle, you on the outside. 12 dummies out on the clockface and one in your bag or back pocket ready to throw if needed to avoid confusion. That will give you straight backs, straight in, all the angle in's and the angle out's.
Whew! That's supposed to be easy for a young dog!
I want to know how to deal with the barking, has it gone away, and will it come back?

This is the 3rd time of trying to post from my mobile, blinking technology!!

Thanks Crackered and Farmboy for the more in depth methods, but I think Herbie and I have a long ways to go before we get to the clock face stage ;-)

I think it will be a case of wait and see as trialling Crackerd's method today there was no barking. I'm going to discuss the whole matter with my trainer and use a method that gets Herbie going left or right without the barking. In reflection of this thread I've concluded that somehow I've confused Herbie and he chose to bark at me to let me know as in the other areas of our training he doesn't so clearly something isn't right.
