I got a couple of pairs of Army Goretex ones, with the steel wire that goes under the boot rather than the rubber strap.
You can find them in Surpluses or Ebay.

Here is an example ;)

I have got gaiters that are black in colour and of a very hard wearing nylon . They are labelled simply "Goretex."
They keep all water out and all bits of plants too including brambles and even barbed wire. They do not "sweat" my legs and they weigh next to nothing. I've had them for 12 years and since then I have twice bought new fancier gaiters. I haven't liked them , especially the neoprene ones. Bloody 'orrible things ! They constrict your calves and they don't "breathe" so they get wet with sweat inside.

This is me "modelling" my Goretex gaiters nearly 6 years ago ..... I was wearing them again today.

Cheeky bugger ! That was me out with Buck my GSP pup back then. The jacket I'm wearing in the pic got chucked in the bin by my wife just last week. She'd washed it twice but she said it still stunk like a badgers bum. There was nothing wrong with it except for the smell . Anyway even that jacket could not eclipse my good looks and photogenic qualities ..........so there ! :snooty:

The black islander are good as are the army surplus. At last years CLA after the beer tent :-D :-D I bought a pair of Loden gaiters from a German stall . The german lad assured me they are 100% waterproof but it was so wet here last autumn I never got out of the wellies but will let you know how they perform in the next few weeks. They look quite low but apparently you are mean't to wear them higher on your boots.

Cheers

Black Islander are fine for dry heather moors but are not waterproof.

whatever make you buy go for a stiff material, there is nothing worse than having to keep pulling up your gaiters,
leave anything flimsy in the shop.
