Tail Damage

Post by Clam »

The Vizsla has damaged the very end of her tail (undocked). The last half inch doesn't have any skin. She's constantly licking it and it doesn't appear to showing any improvement, though it's not getting worse either. There's no infection but clearly itwill be a bit tender when she wags it into something.

Any suggestions of something to apply to it? Should I put something on it to stop her getting at it?

Any thoughts welcome.

Sorry, have no advice as won't have an undocked dog but please please please could you take photos and document it to help the battle. I know on England/Wales docking is allowed but this might not always be the case and the scots need all the evidence we can get!

Absolutely, and its not just working dogs, we had an ESS who was just a house dog and her tail was a total unhealable bloody mess until the vet finally agreed to dock the end it on welfare grounds.
