Has anyone ever had this problem with their dog ?
My young dog started being ill Thurs morn (the runs) then started with sickness so got him in Vets Sat Morn.
Thought it was haemorriging Gastrentriris back again Sun morn when he had seemed a bit beeter and actually ate some chicken.
Took a severe turn for the worse Sun tea-time and had to rush him to the emergency vets who x-rayed and found a shadow in the stomach then had to operate
immediately and found the Intussusception (Small intestine going in to the large), had about 4 inches of the gut removed.
Seems to be ok in himself but emergeny vet told me 10% risk with this op my vets have said it has a 50/50 success rate.
So I am now £1500 lighter but at least for now have the dog who better win something after this (he is 13 months old).
Any feedback would be much appreciated as would like to know if anybody else has gone through this and if their dog made a full recovery.
(Excuse some of the spellings in a hurry)

My only experience is with a dog when I worked for a vet; the dog was younger than yours but did make a full recovery.

Re: Intussusception in Dogs
It's usually younger pups but any age can be affected. It can happen with some foreign bodies, especially linear ones like socks, tights, string etc or it can happen in a bout of vomitting or diarrhoea where the gut motility goes bonkers and the contraction no longer happen in sequence. It is fatal if intreated but if the dog recovers they are usually fine. Some dogs have future complications such as adhesions in the guts but these are not common.

Re: Intussusception in Dogs
Thanks for replies, the vets think that this must have been caused by him straining when he had the diahhorea as there were no foreign bodies.
We had a better night last night hardly any crying and seems very well in himself so hopefully he is on the mend.
I've slept with him downstairs since he came home alternating between living room floor and the sofa so will be good to get back in to my bed.

Great your little dog has made good progress up to now.
I had a little 4 month old springer some years back,20 years or so ago had the same thing, vets said it was straining because of the squits, just like yours.
They had explained it as the intestine telescoping, very sad time for me as i was away when it happened and the dog was in a boarding kennel.
This little dog did not recover and i had him p.t.s,as he became very ill...i think everything in vet medicine has moved on and dogs more or less recover from this with an op' nowadays thank god..all the best to you and your little dog,he has age on his side
as far as i was told this is not common in adult dogs..
cheers
