A good trainer should be able to help you work through this, don't give up!

Not sure but think he would have ignored it. He stopped but didn't sit! In the house he is totally focused on me e.g. follows me around, will often lie at/on my feet. Outside he also seems pretty focused on me until he sees/hears another dog and then it's as if I've never done any work with him at all. Things were getting so much better before he had that week close to an in- season bitch. Clearly I can't put the clock back but neither can I see the way forward at the moment. I will talk about the problem with the trainer I've been working with and see if he can point me in the right direction. Thanks for all the responses.

I have had a few Flatcoats and I've found them easy once they are retrieve obsessed. Which doesn't usually take very much doing! Admittedly all my own were bitches but I have had a few dogs here from time to time. F/cs aren't usually over sexed although I have met one or two.

Whereabouts in the Country are you? Somebody may be able to recommend a good trainer nearby, doesn't have to be a gundog trainer but somebody used to Flatcoats would be a help.
In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.
