Ozka Post Treatment

Post by AJS »

Well I was able to collect Ozka from Anderson Moore Veterinary Practice this morning

At present the most likely diagnosis is Osteomyelitis, which was most probably a result of when he was bitten in the face by the Collie.

We are waiting for the final results of the biopsies before we rule out cancer but it is most unlikely.

There has been discussions on the forum regarding pros and cons of insurance, all I can say is I am glad I have Ozka insured as this little lot has cost in excess of £5,000.

One we get the final results I will post them.

Poor little chap, heart breaking to see his expression, though probably me putting my feelings onto a dog, he probably isn't so aware of all those stitches.

I do hope he is fully recovered very soon.

He is happy to be back at home.
First thing I had to do was go and buy the XLarge crate for him to sleep in, because of the plastic lampshade on his head.

It will be a long road back to full health but hopefully there will be no lasting damage.
He will be on anti biotics 3 times a day for the next 8 weeks at least.
I have nothing but praise for the team at Anderson Moore.

Poor Ozka, the worst thing is probably the lampshade. Speedy recovery Ozka.

Well just got the results back from the various tests and biopsies and it is Osteomyelitis.
There were no cancer cells in any of the tests.
He now has 2 seroma's at the site of the incisions.
Ozka is back at our own vets on Saturday to have the stitches removed, and then it will be 8 weeks of anti-biotics.

Today Ozka had the stitches out but he is still tender around the head so the vet has put him on Metacam.
He also has Tramadol if needed.
The vet reckons it could be 2 months before he is completely healed.
Thank goodness I want him as a working dog and not as a show dog.

It has just put his training way back.
