Re: dog food
I changed my younger dog from one of Skinners hypoallergenic ones to CSJ 'complete tripe' and have found she does well on it, probably slightly better coat than on Skinners. I'd not feed the hi lost cos of the wheat content but if your dogs are ok with wheat then crack on. They're a nice company to deal with, good customer service. It's 12.60 a bag if you buy direct from them but obviously you then have to pay delivery.
cheers,
Alice.

We feed our two on CSJ, no complaints. The boy is on CP30 High Energy and is thriving on it, harldy any waste. She was on Fit and Fast but we wanted to reduce her protein intake, and put her onto some other reduced protien but she wasnt good on it and lost a bit of weight and her waste was not good. She is not on CSJ Xcel with some occasional additives and she is thriving on it.

Re: dog food
my springer I can feed pretty much any old crap to (er, not that I do, but you know what I mean!) and he'll be great, he's just one of life's good doers, he's fed on CSJ 'Old Champ' now, my cocker had itchy skin and a rubbish dull coat when fed on skinners maintanance, she does better not to have wheat. A better-quality food all round will use more meat and less 'filler' wheat etc.xbuilderx wrote:is it the amount of wheat or just wheat in general your dogs have i problem with? what probelms did you have?perryperryperry wrote:I'd not feed the hi lost cos of the wheat content but if your dogs are ok with wheat then crack on.

Re: dog food
Possibly the 2 most discussed issues on this Forum are firstly when to start training a pup & secondly what to feed one's dog or dogs.
In this regard and harsh experience has taught me thus in the 1st instance from now on I shall never even start any sort of formal training prior to 9 months old and in some cases even later. I am no expert just experience has shown me that professionals are obliged to have constant success in the Novice trials prior to a dog's 2nd birthday and us mere mortals occasionally try to copy or emulate and fall flat on our faces and look rather stupid in the process !
On the latter subject I have historically spent small fortunes on '' specialised feeds'' for my Cockers & vet's bills where colitis has reared its' ugly head on more than 1 occasion !
Some dogs/pups have great tolerance levels , some have virtually zero to the point of despair with the resultant attendant clean up !
I will preempt by saying I never feed dry only and add ''milk, human grade mince & creamed rice , eggs & steamed veg at all times''.
I now feed the following to all ( pups excluded) & have found little or no '' tummy issues'' !
Namely 1/3 Arkwright's Beef & 2/3 Greene's Non Gluten Chicken in addition to the above & my amateur analysis says that all are in receipt of approx 22/24% protein.
Collectively it seems to work at a significantly less exorbitant price than some of the more '' label beneficient'' foods .
I am somewhat fortunate that trips to the mainland UK are on my agenda on a relatively regular basis hence I can return with 10 bags Greenes & 5 bags Arkwrights at a considerably more attractive price than pertains here where there is no VAT exemption on '' working dog foods''.
Cannot prescribe it as a solve all solution but for my gang it works at a very attractive dog food/ protein/ price ratio.
