Re: 'Hi Lost' Command
If you wanted to you could call out "Fish and Chips !" it would not matter to a dog.

Re: 'Hi Lost' Command
Hard to describe but a lot of people I train with use a repeated pip-peep - a short pip followed by a longer peep that trails off - sounds like pip peeeyoooooo pip peeeyoooooo.
I hope you get the idea!! I've never tried to describe a whistle in text before!!!

Re: 'Hi Lost' Command
Hard to exaplin in text - i use a trill sound - imagine rolling your rrrrrrrs down the whistle. It's a non-pea whitsle but rolling your rrrrs makes a similar sound. OR most people use a two tone twit twoo type sound.
The sound means you're in the area - get your nose down. Train it in the same way you would the verbal command.

Doesnt matter whether you use your voice, a whistle,a trumpet or a rendition of Donald where's ya troosies on bagpipes, as long as the dog understands the connection between the.......whatever, and hunting for a retrieve.

I think you get a much sharper response with the whistle
