Re: leather slip lead (specially made)
Sorry Ramona, we just got surprised and want to help, leather is the way to go but may i suggest a pair of gloves while your hands heal? I've found thin working water proof gloves with thin smooth leather in the palm to be lovely. Good luck.

Turner Richards, no idea what they are like though. I use soft rope leads these days as leather seems to get unpleasant in the rain, not that we've seen much of that lately!

I can't be certain that this is the one I've got, but it does have a brass ring and rubber stop and looks exactly the same. I've been very pleased with it.

The one you posted Bogtrotter looks a lot like that from Turner Richards, could it be the same? Doesnt say anything length-wise though..

Make sure its thick enough, 8mm as a minimum for a round slip lead.
Had you considered a flat collar and clip lead while the dog is still pulling? Much easier to find a comfortable lead and a collar is better for the dog too. A slip lead is great when you are working the dog but not really necessary the rest of the time.

Re: leather slip lead (specially made)
I have a collar and clip lead as well, but the collar constantly gets wet and sandy (we practically live on the beach) hence I have to take it on and off very often to dry, and it seems more convenient just having a leash/collar in one. she goes most places without a leash, but when I train heelwork I use the slip lead for easy on and off. If she needs to go into town with me I would use the collar though, like you said, it is better for her when not training.Judy wrote:Make sure its thick enough, 8mm as a minimum for a round slip lead.

Cheers guys for your input. Im not looking to buy the cheapest option, I want something that is comfortable and will last for a long time! I don't lose stuff- they break
If anyone has a leash that they love, I appreciate it if they want to share where they got it:)

Re: leather slip lead (specially made)
I've had leather slip leads in all sizes and configurations from Lynn's leads on 07710 841293. Really good quality and last for ever. Both Malcolm and Lynn are really nice, down to earth folk who are regulars on the country fair circuit. They have a stand at the Westcountry Game Fair in March, if that helps.

I bought mine from contender gundogs (Contender is a forum member) - lovely soft, supple leads.
