Great lesson!!

Post by LucyLab »

I know that he is a rather controversial topic on here, but I just had to shout about the fantastic 3hrs that I spent today under the tutelage of Mr Polmaise! This was my second trip down to see him about help silencing my Lab, who previously would whine considerably on certain triggers. Today....by the end of the session, we had him sitting calmly while a dog that he didn't know retrieved right under his nose  After a short lunch break, we took out the cocker, my reluctant little hunter. 5mins in and he was going better than I've ever dreamed he would

All a bit of a blur of LOTS of information + long drive, but we have plenty to work on/think about and I'm already really looking forward to the next lesson :-D

I have no intention of giving away any of his training tips on here, but would just like to take the opportunity to say that if you're in need of gundog-help and you're within a half days drive of Central Scotland (and you're not easily offended by an honest opinion!), then this guy is an absolutely wonderful trainer. I was due to visit him over a year ago, but got snowed in and had to cancel. I'm now trying very hard not to think about where I might be with my dogs now, if only I had been able to go

Oooooh I just love dog training

Glad you had a brill training! I wouldn't mind training for Mr Polmaise, i'm sure it would be fun and oh that voice, not bad! I would love to do a vacation trip training, really would. Oh well, just got an invitation to a training weekend with Will Clulee, why going over the bridge for water eh?

I was lucky enough to come across Robert when my dog was young and therefore before my lack of experience ruined the dog completely. I went to a training day in Lincs and then visted for a weekend in Fife. Worth all the driving from Liverpool.
I know he puts some peoples' backs up but there is no denying his results ( for dog and trainer!). Listen and learn- especially if you don't at first like what you're hearing, is my advice. His use of 'the process' and body language are something to see and obviate the need for coercive methods.
Definately a true 'dog mytherer'
I reckon Polmaise could train a badger!

Study me as much as you like, you will never know me, for I differ a hundred ways from what you see me to be

Long way for you to go for a lesson?
In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.
