Crufts 'gundogs'

Post by Megsdad »

Can't believe what I'm seeing here!!!! One or two look as if they might have been trained and worked. The rest are pets. The lab is a complete tub of lard that wouldn't last half an hour working. The commentators keep going on about them being fit for purpose but they seem to think that means being able to trot around in an arena. American cocker - ?????? :brickwall:

You just beat me to it . Crufts gundog ring has become a farce. The winning dog won't make a gundog until pig-shit stops smelling broon !

Fat,heavy boned lab and goldie didn't impress me either.

Why these people think that dogs with that build or carrying so much profuse coat could ever work in the woods and fields is beyond me.

I was just thinking I'd post something about what I was seeing on the telly as I couldn't believe it. I still struggle to see how these people manage to convince themselves that what they do is a good thing. I can't see in what way these dogs can be 'fit for function'.

Just got sidetracked as I think Willie is on there with a collie!

Shit didn't realise that was you in kilt with the collie Mr Wullie. Isn't that animal cruelty subjecting dog to bagpipes?

Depending on the hight of the dog it may be animal cruelty to wear a kilt :-D

I switched t.v. Channels as soon as I saw what had won Crufts best gundog this year. I'd rather watch the Muppets anyway , at least they are meant to be funny.
