Did you see the gamekeeper bit? Nice looking wirehaired pointer that won.
Re: Crufts 'gundogs'
Gamekeepers. The best ESS bitch and the best ESS dog and the second ESS dog are worked regularly on shoots. Zoe Wilson works them all and is very unhappy that because she also shows they cannot be docked. They are from Shipden lines and Shipden have been trying to breed dual purpose dogs for yonks.
Yes, PLG the GWP was very good.

Re: Crufts 'gundogs'
As I said there were a couple of dogs looked like they were workers.
The final judgement was by a Professor of Doggyology or Dogological Science so how are we mere mortals to argue with that?

Depends on whether it was any American cocker 'we' know.

The gundog group winner was a different colour, but I believe the one "we" know was indeed there

More than likely. Dog shows are the death of a lot of quality working dogs. Can't say they are constructive in any way whatsoever.Fredrick wrote:Gundog winner at crufts? The world has gone MAD!

At least 90% of those dogs are make believe gundogs living in a make believe world.

Re: Crufts 'gundogs'
The ess I watched in the keepers ring where show bred types and looked nothing like 99.9% of what we see on a days shooting. I wouldnt want thats for sureSgurr wrote:Gamekeepers. If it was easy it wouldn't be so much fun.

Re: Crufts 'gundogs'
I went yesterday morning for the first ever time - was back home by 1pm totally in shock. Goldies were WHITE, labradors were short, fat and bull headed, cockers were totally unlike any of the workers that we see out in the field. The clumbers ............. one woman I spoke to thought that its hip score of 72 was "acceptable" ............ the breed standard is 35 - my bitches hips are 10.............. Give me strength. My husband's comment about the American Cocker was that all it was useful for was to wipe your boots with .... am sure it was a great little dog but REALLY ............
Owned by 4 working cockers, 1 lab and 1 working clumber .......................!!!
