Thanks for all the replies everyone. Dis a long retrieve this evening and all was well until the last 4 feet when he shot under a fence into a field
Went into some woods and did a little hunt up and found a ditch so did some retrieves along the ditch using it as a channel, plenty of chance to get out (which he did twice) but in the end we finished up with this....(the retrieve is at the end)
Did a really good session with him this morning and we are finaly hetting somewhere witht the retrieve, I use a straight fence line, put one in front of us and one behind, send for one and then the other. Hes figured out that the sooner he comes back the sooner he gets the second one. Most people say only give him one or two retrieves but Ive found that hes so keen, the more I give the better it gets!
