Gundog Trainers in the South - advice please

Post by chrisjd2 »

Hi all,

So after being to one trainer and when I encountered a problem with my spaniel being quite sticky on hunting he then suggested that I send my dog up to Opie's for 1 month to be blasted in the rabbit pen (Roughly £500), Needless to say I wanted to fix this problem myself instead of resorting to someone else to prevent myself from making the same mistake on a future dog.

Can anyone recommend a good/well respected gundog trainer in the South of england that can hopefully help me with the sticking issue? I am near Taunton in Somerset but don't mind to travel a little distance to go to a good trainer.

Nick Gregory is now in Marlborough if you want specialist spaniel advice they (pro trainers) dont come much better than that in your immediate area ;)

If you mean John Cook of Flintwood fame then he's been in training & trialling longer than most, has held his own with the best trainers/triallers in the country & always came out with a good dog.

I can't speak from personal experience on the spaniel side as I have labs, but of my friends in spaniels, they really rate Nick Gregory and John Cook.

Thanks all!

John Cook of Flintwood fame is literally a stone throws away. His facilities look great.
