residential courses scotland

Post by guns and gossip »

hi everyone,
I currently have a ten month old lab that that comes from working lines and we have been taking Oscar to gundog classes for some time now. But we feel he would bebefit from a residential course, so i was wondering if anyone can recommend any in Scotland. Thank you.

Do you mean putting him in for training? Which part of Scotland?

Not so much putting him in but, perhaps a week or so of him and ourselves if that's possible working on his training. I wouldn't want to send him away if there was not the option for someone to go with him. As I think it would help for myself to also be there for his training.

We are from the west but I would travel to another part as there aren't a lot of trainers near ourselves.

I think you'd get more out of weekly one to one sessions, a dog can't be taught on an "intensive" course and classes have their limitations.

I know Edward Martin/Joe Hipwell of Sealpin Gundogs offer 'training holidays' in which you stay in their holiday cottage, because I've been trying to persuade my other half to let me/us go on one for years!!
cheers,
Alice.
