Never, ever go over the top telling them off. They respond amazingly to positivity in training. Oh and never show frustration.

shoot wrote:HI I am new to the site and new to gun dogs.
I picked up BEE, our new addition this weekend, an eight week old Cocker Spaniel.
I have joined the site with the hope of learning from others on the best way to encourage our Cocker to be a good gun dog, but more importantly I am looking forward to becoming a trainer. I know nothing about training a gun dog so I will welcome all advise...

Regards Stuart
Hi Stuart,
Welcome the mad world of Cockers. I doubt very much you'll have to encourage her much!
As nobody else has asked, is she working or show bred?
Good luck with the new addition, fun times ahead for you .....
