Tail Docking in England, Rules / Cert.
In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.

1st link , they could have worded this a bit better :
Must a vet dock a working dog’s tail if asked to do so?
No – the decision is discretionary.
bit open to interpretation that.....

Re: Tail Docking in England, Rules / Cert.
Before the ban in Scotland there were many vets who wouldn't dock dogs for whatever reason, there was only one locally to me who would do it and they tended to dock too short. It kept the local terrier men going though!
I can only assume the law is not forcing a vet to carry out a procedure that is elective and of which some vets may morally object?
I suppose its similar to same sex marriage....its legal however no minister or priest etc can be forced to carry out the ceremony.

I had my new litter docked yesterday and the vet I use was saying how he's had other vets come to him as their own staff have threatened to walk out if they docked in their own surgery / practices. Craziness.
It's clearly a very emotive subject particularly amongst the ignorant.
