Berghaus Waterproofs

Post by Dan Newcombe »

Lining up for some overtrousers and torn between the deluge and the paclite by Berghaus

Drawn to the deluge because they are cheaper and folk I know rate them but does anyone have first hand experience of the paclite being better and worth the extra money?

Other option is the schoffel lightweight pacaway range but they are quite a bit more money

Thanks

I had paclites a few years bak for walking in iceland. Gr8 troursers but as the name suggests lite. To make weight they r very thin and your undertrouser must be thicker to keep u warmer wen needed.
I then used them for tree surgery work and only last year did they suffer a ripped arse and the zip went.
8yrs of pro tree work so yes they are good.

Last season picked up the newer all in one type trouser my wife has the sealand ones. Mine are hoggs of fife field pro. Warm and gr8 last seaon and not that expensive. Have just been washed today in fact!

I must have been really unlucky with mine then coz I managed to rip em in bramble on the second outing…
I got some of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jack-Pyke-Hun ... 5818&rt=nc

in the plain green and so far touch wood they’ve stood me in good stead.

A vote for Schoffel here! I've messed around with different waterproofs over the years and not been happy with any of them to be honest. Decided to fork out for Schoffel this year and couldn't be more pleased with them. Well worth the extra cost as they are so comfortable to wear and with the long side zips so easy to put on!

I have Berghaus for everyday non-bramble and Duck Dri Treggings for hard core terrain. This has been the best solution for me as both pairs of trousers are about to enter into their 3rd season :-)
Proud to own 4 wonderful dogs- Basil Beagle - Rosie Springer - Alfie & Lily the Cockers

Arrived amazingly quickly and seem to fit pretty well (like the fact that they do a long leg option!!)

We will just have to see how them turn the rain when the season gets under way!
