starting pistol
starting pistol
Hi,been looking at starting pistols and the cheapest seem to be the revolver type £35 from quest firing .22 blanks. Then the price goes up to £60+ for the cartridge type.
Do the revolver type do the job or is their a good reason why I should pay extra for the cartridge type or one fireing a different type of blank.

I have a Rhom and it has never failed.
I had one of the cheaper revolver type previously but it misfired and became unreliable. I sent it back and got a replacement but the same happened so I then got Rhom.
In my experience the extra was worth paying. The only downside is that the Rhom is a 6 shot and the pistol an 8 shot so needs reloading more often but this is easier if you have spare magazines which you can preload.

Never had a problem with the cheap one
Re: starting pistol
OK thanks, cheap one it is then.
Is their much difference between the long and the short blanks apart from the price.

Dont know, says it takes longs and shorts .
Re: starting pistol
The revolver ones can misfire if you just pull the trigger, if you pull the hammer back to cock it first they are very reliable and with the hammer back you can see if the blank you are about to use has been fired. As the blanks use black powder regular cleaning and oiling helps, it also prolongs there life and reliability, you can also use short and long blanks BUT NOT LAUNCHER BLANKS.
The down sides are bad build quality, there’s no safety catch so don’t put them in your pocket when loaded, and you have to load the 8 blanks one at a time and this is a right pain with short blanks.
