Although it cant determine if either Kurt or Onyx is the carrier i have now had my Stud Dog from Buccleuch Pepper x Buccleuch Onyx tested and he has come back clear for Pra cord1 and fuco. Very relieved!

That's great to hear Jim! Unrelatedly I also noticed that OFTW Moonreed Bandit has been tested clear for both too.
cheers,
Alice.

Another PRA Cord 1 Clear FTCh, all to the good! Let's hope Buccleuch will test all their current Springers.

Edited to say Buccleuch Kelsey (Edwardiana Blackmagic x Buccleuch Onyx) is also PRA Cord 1 Clear and has also been tested and is Clear for FN - wonder if they mean Fuco as Familial Nephropathy is a DNA test for cockers. Hopefully the results (including Pepper's) will be on MyKC soon.

So does this mean Hollydrive Kurt is a carrier then? anyone know the results of the 3 kurt pups that were going to be tested?

Yes he must be. I have a litter brother to Intrepid and he is also a carrier.

Crikey, that's a massive blow to Opie having just bought the dog as his next springer stud dog. I wonder if it was a case of genes mutating? I suppose we will only know if he gets him tested. Potentially massive consequences for the springer world? I really don't understand why we are not seeing more cases of PRA if these lines are producing carriers? I was speaking to my eye specialist and he said he was seeing alot more cases of PRA in spaniels, I guess these are the guys in the know.

Does anyone have any first hand experience of this condition in their dog? I must be honest id never heard of it until a year ago, but surely there must be a lot of older dogs with the condition given were only really testing for it relatively recently?
