Red pedigree

Post by ts phillips »

Sat on the mower bored this afternoon, the mind started to wander!! Has anyone or does anyone know of a litter of puppies ever bred with an entirely red pedigree? As in FTCH to FTCH across the whole 5 generations. Has it, or could it ever be done in any breed, specifically my interest of springers? Thinking caps on!!

Scimitar probably comes closest on the Cocker front.

Will be interested in the replies.

I heard of a young springer today. Only half a dozen names on the pedigree that were not in red but that may have included f.t.winners as well as champions. I've been watching this very young dog this year and was greatly impressed ...... and then his owner sold him on for £100 because his wife didn't get on with the dog ! He will now be a beaters dog.

In the Red Stakes Buccleuch Jazz will probably take some beating, 37 positions in 62 being FTCh plus a load of FTW's. She's lived up to that pedigree but doesn't seem to have produced anything with her star quality yet - maybe the Blackmagic litter will produce the champions?

FTW don't count. I don't mind that people indicate them on a pedigree but they shouldn't use red.

The only ones likely to achieve it are the ones who trial successfully at ftch level and breed for trialing and only breed from trialing dogs that have red.
That may put your mind at rest sitting on the mower that it's not likely that you have or will have one. It may answer a question that is likely to come up in question of sport in the future but I doubt it.

Sorry, wasn't looking for a puppy bred this way! It was purely a matter of interest as to wether it had been done or ever could be done!
