Will reducing the protein level in the diet make my dog more biddable or is this "clutching at straws"

Biddabilty has nothing to do with diet.J.Faulkner wrote:Will reducing the protein level in the diet make my dog more biddable or is this "clutching at straws"
Re: Protein Levels
many years ago some research suggested that vitalin increased the hyper activity in dogs.so perhaps it can have an effect on a dogs desire to be biddable!

A biddable dog is a biddable dog, no matter what it eats. If you give a biddable dog a sleeping tablet, it just makes it sleepy and untrainable for a while, not less biddable.Andrew wrote:many years ago some research suggested that vitalin increased the hyper activity in dogs.so perhaps it can have an effect on a dogs desire to be biddable!
Re: Protein Levels
Nothing to do with protein, could well be more to do with excesses of wheat. Mine are on a lamb and rice food which has 26% protein, same food all year round, they are lazy layabouts unless working. The better the food the less likely the dogs are to be off the wall. I had one off the wall puppy who came here on Chudley's, knowing what I know now she would have been off that and on to the lamb and rice as soon as she arrived. Possibly even onto raw!!

My boy is normally on Skinners maintenance throughout non working season. Now he is on 50% crunchy 50% maintenance. Crunchy too has 26% protein. If I feed him that all the time, its uncontrollable

And therein lies the rub. "uncontrollable" and "biddable" are not the same hair.Stihl 090 wrote: If I feed him that all the time, its uncontrollable
