The 6 week gundog

Post by Degalle79 »

Someone mentioned to me today that her sister had sent her dog away for 6 weeks to be trained to be a 'gundog'. Do you think it is possible to achieve this in 6 weeks flat, from scratch might i add?

Edited to add: I dont know any detail about the dog, lets assume the dog is 1.5yr old and is 'ready' to be trained.

Are you sure that they didn't mean 6 months?

If someone can actually do that then all I can say is, "Poor bloody dog !"

Was it a Collie or a border terrier or god forbid an HPR
Depends on what your someone and her sister think what a gundog is. There are some on here that think they just fetch dummies.
Expectations for some are not necessarily the same for everyone especially on this board.
WGD for example by own admission never knew anything about trials a few years ago and is now a winner and Trekmoor who has been trialling for years is still training Charlie for years.

Thank goodness for these replies, I was thinking 6 wks was rediculous, but then thought how brutal must I be, 2yrs 5 months in I have a cocker who is 90% there, but still prone to run in the wee sh1t@. :brickwall:
