Sorry that you took my posts the wrong way. You appeared to already have done all the research & painstaking whittling down required to arrive at your final two candidates, of fairly equal potential, & admitted to being stumped as to which to pick. I don't know the dogs but my suggestion is a logical & rational solution to your predicament - the one you first presented to us, not the latter - & arguably more helpful than that of the posters throwing another dog into the mix. You came to the forum presumably to ask an honest question, and I gave an honest reply. It's up to you what you do with it, the same as with any other you receive, but I fail to see why you need to twist what I said out of all proportion.

Interesting topic...I've always wondered when looking at potential dogs to use based on what they've produced should we actually consider the bitch lines behind the dogs that we've seen out of the dog in question....that led us to consider using it in the first instance (That's a mouthful but I hope it makes sense? It does in my head :-D? so for arguments sake looking at Fatty...she's out of Venus who is a sister to Jade etc. so I'd be keen to use Zander if I had a bitch with similar kind of breeding behind her...hoping to replicate or get something similar to Fatty. I'm not saying this is the way to do it btw I'm just wondering if anyone considers it in that way....especially with dogs which aren't so extensively used such as Capella..is the quality of pups he produces proportional to a certain bitch line? I know loads of it is down to who gets the pups, how they're trained blahblahblah but stripping all that back it serves food for thought. Hoping not to get my heed bit off

The question should also be "who" could make my dog the next...

Why ask on the forum then?

Why would it be who could make my dog the next.....? I don't follow?

Clearly as I've said to generate some discussion, doubtful is not dismissive.

A few years ago I posted on this forum asking for a stud dog in Scotland without Mallowdale lines as I didn't like them. WELL, I got slated for it! Even to the point where I was told Ian Openshaw himself was fuming! So I phoned him up! And got an earful of verbal abuse and the phone put down on me. So now, I either don't bother posting on this forum my opinion or I will PM. I was accused of slander, the works. What would happen if I put something on about certain ftchs stud dogs because they are undershot (there are some that are and are pushed no end by people), some ftch stud dogs that squeak, some that have produced bad legs, the works. It's a case of looking and learning for yourself, you can't ask on an open forum, you need to get to know these dogs. I for one will not go and use a dog at stud without having seen it work and having looked in it's mouth. The owner shouldn't mind, they are charging you after all and should have nothing to hide.
