There was one stud who was of no real interest to me but was heavily advertised etc. Upon checking MyKC I discovered he had covered the same bitch 4 times in just over 2 years. She was clearly been bred on consecutive seaosns. It is totally possible for a bitch to have her allowed 4 registerable litters in about 2 years. There were several other bitches as well that from the dates would appear to have had litters by him on consecutive seasons.
IMO it's a disgusting practice but one that it would appear is perfectly acceptable by some (bitch owners and stud owners) and indeed allowed by the KC. I really do wish they had more powers and the manpower to police their systems.
It's ridiculous that KC say one thing (ie they will only register one litter every 12 months) and then make so many exceptions as to make the rule totally un-enforced. I personally know several people who've had litters from both labs and spaniels that shouldn't have been registrable (bitch too old and/or litters too close together), quick phonecall to the KC, 'oh it was an accidental mating' and hey presto, litter is registered. They make a mockery of themselves by bending over so easily for the money.
cheers,
Alice.

The Kennel Club have no rule on registering more than one litter in a 12 month period. Several breeds DO have this as a requirement under the ABS scheme, and council licenced breeders are meant to follow the rule. Even if this was a KC rule I would like a little flexibility; What if a bitch has 6month seasons but her second litter comes a few days short of 12months from the first?

It is possible for some bitches to have 3 litters in 12 months. I know of several bitches who have 4-5month cycles, even after breeding!

Back to back breeding may increase fertility and may not be an undue strain on the bitch according to some papers published last year (I'll find if I can).

Registration seems increasingly automated; I wonder if the KC system flags things like this up so they can be questioned?

It's quite possible. I've seen bitches who come into season much more frequently than what's considered to be "normal", sometimes every 4 months.

When it comes the kennel club refusing to register litters from bitches who have been bred from like that, the breeders will just have unregistered litters in between. When that happens you have lost that papertrail so I'm not convinced that is the right answer either. It's the same as the argument for not registering pups from parents who have not been health tested. Those pups will largely go unregistered then we have no way of tracking where new diseases might be appearing from in any given breed.

I believe that it's all about supply and demand. Educate the puppy buyers.
Happiness is where we find it, but rarely where we seek it.

Disregarding the over use of this bitch as a breeding machine / cash point. Why should you think her worthy of breeding in any way yourself even if it was her first litter?
She has no faults , has a lovely temperament and a very kind eye , is a perfect size and has excellent conformation and is very biddable. I hope that answers your question.
not really how much work has she actually done, discounting already being bred from three times? You see we all must look at our actions before breeding I hope you give this poor thing a permanent break

To save having another litter from this bitch so soon, is there anyway of getting one of her pups from the info you have on my kc? Or can you contact these guys that have bred from her, they may know of some pups from her that might become available? Seems a shame to breed from her just because you have bonded so well and want a puppy from her. Or maybe look at her pedigree and get a puppy from the same lines as her?

Yes I understand that ,but I'm trying to find out more about them. She wasn't bred by Coed Cae Gundogs though.
