If you like the older type of stuff, then Jack Illife has just won an open with a dog by Laggonmill Comet out of a irish bitch that I believe won a good few open stakes.
I cant remember the full name but its spitfire something or something spitfire lol. I will take a good look to see if I can find it

If it was easy it wouldn't be so much fun.

petnutrition wrote:Ftch dawsonlee chance is line bred to art/Amy lines on both sides to my knowledge and it don't seem to have been a bad result does it? I think most hear say just comes from potential competition in the trade, I wouldn have a problem doubling up on art or Amy or sker providing both the stud dog and dam were sound and fault free and took my eye! If it didnt work then fair play at least I would have tried! Try the other way by outcrossing and if that don't work either then the bull shi* about doubling up on mentioned dogs is A load of pap lol

Well said Ryan. The trouble is most people asking about ftch studs go on hear say, and think they will single handedly recreate the breed.

Not that I'm looking for an outside stud just yet! Ru's first litter will almost certainly be with my black and white dog....it's just good to know there will be options out there a generation or two beyond. I particularly like the look of Will Clulees' boys and the Edgegrove dogs.....now, if they could just do a health test or two
so maybe you are also looking for a champion dog to use, even though you said that factor doesn't matter not ?

#controversy

Not a controversy at all. I will probably breed my bitch to one of my dogs as I know them inside out. If there is a resulting bitch that I keep and is good enough I will need to go outside my tiny pool of dogs. If I can't know the dog personally I have to go on trial results but I'm not 'breed to a ftch' obsessed like some people. It may be that there is a local dog who takes my eye, it may be a trialler, it may not. I am just seeing what is out there as I believe good breeding is like a chess game...you must be planning your future moves. I have seen in other breeds (showdogs) everyone use a popular sire to up their chance of a showring win then find they have nothing to breed their superstar to as everyone else had the same idea...I was a bit worried the gundog world may be doing the same!

Ftch Spitfire Sorties Dam is on many pedigrees is a FTCH but after a quick search on MY KC she doesnt come up with a title, just a stud book number which i find very odd.

I saw him last year at Chatsworth, not a big spaniel but i do like what's behind him, especially the bitch line.

I liked him when I saw his champs DVD runs. Was reminded about liking him when I saw that he'd sired a litter with OFTAW Merovigian Miss Milly last month. Surprised he's not been used more.
cheers,
Alice.

Awbeg muffins lines go back to the famous monalue line...hard hunting "traditional" irish woodcock dogs who would hunt heavy covered scentless ground for fun in pursuit of the odd woodcock

It seems the Kc need to update their records.

I'm also very surprised he hasn't been used more, Jack hasn't even used him yet either!
