Our neighbours were whinging that the dog was barking all day so we wanted to find out the truth.

Suffice to say they were exaggerating. He was not. He'd bark no more than 2 or 3 times a day. It would always be territorial. When folks were clattering around outside.

It also helped reassure us that there is no separation anxiety as we could both see and hear what he was up to.

I would be very careful buying a Swann CCTV most sellers are not Swann authorised dealers and Swann WILL NOT honour their two year warranty if you buy from them as I found out, I managed to fix it myself in the end.

I actually install CCTV for a living and i have CCTV in my kennels and I'm shocked at my neighbour not my immediate ones some further up the road......they hear my dogs bark now and again.... and they come snooping around to see what they are barking at! I installed the CCTV to keep an eye on who was knocking around as i have a path way at the back of the house and mine sends me an e-mail with a screen grab of who is at the rear of the house, which i get on my i-phone. I have to say that the one particular neighbour seems to be on a witch hunt in relation to my dogs so another good reason to have the CCTV to actually document what the dogs are doing in the day and at night. Please note that the path at the rear of my house is to serve the block the houses i live in and is nothing to do with the neighbour that is looking around she lives about 10 houses away!

I will try and post some screen grabs of the system at night and in the day I'm happy to offer advice to anyone that needs it and can be contacted via PM or in this thread

Bearing in mind the previous posts I think we would like your reccommendation for a straight forward easy to self install set up from a reliable supplier. Personally I would like a wifi system as my kennel block is remote from the house and although it has power I don't want anymore wires dangling about the place that could easily be cut.

Thanks.

Hi
The problem with WI-FI systems is that they still need power to make them work, I appricate that you have power to the block of kennels but for the sake of adding one extra wire you can power and send video feed back to the DVR......WI-FI for me can be un reliable I have seen systems where the picture goes fuzzy when a microwave turns on for example or people hack them to see the image or even suffer interference from WI-FI in the local area.

I have hard wired my system and my kennels are at the bottom of the garden, my honest answer would be to look at maybe using shielded CAT5 cable to send power and video signal down one cable using the number of twisted pairs this may allow you to power a number of cameras depending on the area.

You may even want to consider hiding the DVR recording device down where your kennels are making the wiring easier then look at using some sort of power line/home plug adaptor (using the existing electric cables you have) to network the DVR to allow you to remote access the DVR from your smart phone/home PC?
